Lost Your Files?
Don't Panic!
Digital storage media is susceptible to a wide variety of failures caused by physical damage. CDs and DVDs, for instance, can get scratched. Hard disks are prone to any number of mechanical failures, including head crashes (sometimes known as "the click of death"). In most cases where the media is physically damaged some percentage of the data will have been permanently lost, and, in many cases, the file system will be damaged as well. Damage to the file system, known as logical damage, must be repaired before the files can be salvaged from the failed media.
Logical damage can also occur without the drive being physically damaged. Unsafe removal of external harddisks whilst data is being written to the drive may destroy the File Allocation Table (FAT). Power outages or fluctuations can cause similar problems. Some viruses are designed to destroy File Allocation Tables. Formatting a drive or deleting partitions also destroys the File Allocation Table. In most cases where the drive is fully functioning, but the file system has been destroyed, almost all of the data can be recovered.
The Data Recovery Process
Our technicians start by making an exact clone of your drive, in case your drive only has a few hours runtime left. This is a non-intensive, non-destructive process - we simply read your drive byte by byte. No data is written to your drive.
Next we analyse the drive image to see what data can be recovered. We will contact you, and let you know what we can recover. If at this stage we can find no usable data or we cannot find the data you need, there is no charge (except for delivery charges!). Data recovery is charged by the time taken for the operation to be completed. In some cases, data recovery can take longer than expected. If there are particular files you need urgently we can recover those individually first, before processing your whole drive.
If you are happy with the price, the recovery is then run and we will give you an estimated completion date. If the data cannot be put back on your existing harddisc, you may supply us with another disc or we can purchase you a replacement. Alternatively, we can put up to 20Gbs of your data on DVDs.
Kronos is different from other Data Recovery Firms
We understand that although your data is precious to you, you can't afford to pay the earth to recover it.
Most firms put their prices out of the league of home users and small businesses. We Don't.
Most firms start their prices at £200. We Don't.
If your drive is not severly physically damaged, eg. it is an external drive that was unsafely removed, or suffered power loss, or a virus problem, we will recover your data for less than £200 (excluding cost of purchasing a replacement and delivery charges if applicable).
